Should rich countries help the poor?
OR
These
countries should use their own resources to help themselves?
In the modern era all countries of the world are
becoming linked. And there are three type of countries in all around the world
which are Developed countries, Developing countries and third world countries.
In this modern age third world countries of Africa are still living in poverty and the condition
of natives of these countries is
miserable. These countries do not have natural resources. These countries
should be helped by the rich countries economically.
An important way to help the poor and developing
countries is to do “Free trade agreements”. Trade agreements allow a nation to
specialize in what they are productive in.
These agreements open the ways for foreign
investment. There are so many examples in the world that by free trade
agreements following countries grown up their economy:
Israel has benefited from free trade with the US.
And Chili has also develop its economy
by free trade agreements.
Countries
like, South Korea, Taiwan, Ireland, Singapore, Chile, and so on were much
poorer nations a generation ago. But now these all countries are grown due to
opening up trade.
It
is estimated that, when China began to open up the trade in 1979, about 200 to
400 million people have moved out of poverty.
An
other way to help poor countries is to
remove subsidies. So that imported goods from poorer countries can compete
fairly. Third way to help the poor countries is to wave off their debts.
There
are many demerits of economical aid as follows:
Due
to corrupt government of a country billions of

dollars
of aid goes missing. Foreign aid project may be unsuitable for the target
country. Also the agencies start industrial projects and these agencies do not
involve the local people or these project fail with in few years.
Much
more aid is returns to the donor also.
The
most important way to help the poor countries is to help them in technology so
that these poor countries should able to use their own resources. There are
many developing countries in the world which have natural resources but these
countries do not have technology to utilize these resources. For example in
Pakistan there are many natural resources of “Coal” but most of them are unutilized
because the lake of funds and technology.
Rich
Countries should help these countries in these manners that poor countries
should able to be independent after few years. Just economical aid is not
necessary to help the poor countries industrial aid is also needed.
But
in the case of “third world” countries economical aid is helpful because these
countries do not have their own resources. That is why these countries should
be helped by the rich and developed countries.
Furthermore poor and developing countries should try
their best to use their own resources and should avoid from foreign aid. These
countries should use their own machinery and all other products and try to be independent.
